Now that NBC has their grubby little paws on CBS' Murder, She Wrote, the Eye is getting into the reboot game as well with plans to revive Charmed.

Just a day after the Murder, She Wrote revival was revealed, Vulture reports on Friday (Oct. 25) that TV's No. 1 network is in the early stages of a remake of Aaron Spelling's witchy WB drama. Party of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and partner Sydney Sidner are co-writing the project.

Insiders are describing the planned project as a "re-imagining" of the original series starring Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan as a sisterhood of witches who uses their powers for good. CBS TV Studios, which owns the rights to the entirety of the Spelling library, will produce alongside the Tannenbaum Company. The network has simply ordered a script for a pilot, however; no commitment to filming anything has been made.

Charmed was one of the now-extinct WB Network's longest-running and most successful series, lasting eight seasons and 178 episodes. Though it went off the air in 2006, the show still repeats on TNT and WE and was found to be the second most binged show in 2012 on subscription video-on-demand services (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime) by the NPD Group, pointing to a still-fervent fan base that makes a reboot seem sensible, business-wise.

For what it's worth, McGowan doesn't seem to be too thrilled by the prospective reboot. Shortly after news broke, she tweeted, "They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood," followed up by, "lame lame lame lamertons."
